What is Finasteride?

How Does Finasteride Work?

Finasteride works by inhibiting the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which is responsible for converting testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a potent androgen hormone that binds to receptors in hair follicles, causing them to shrink over time and eventually stop producing hair. By reducing DHT levels in the scalp by up to 60%, Finasteride helps to slow the progression of male pattern baldness, maintain existing hair, and in some cases stimulate new hair growth.
